they would have. the vast majority would affect pentagon employees, defense secretary leon panetta has already said a one day a week furlough for pentagon employees for defense department employees. that means about a 20% pay cut. there are others out there who could be affected by this. going to the airport, tsa workers could lose 9,000 agents. that could mean some long lines at security. 1,000 fbi agents. border patrol agents as well could be lost. food inspectors could be temporarily furloughed according to what we're hearing and a number of other programs. the democrats in particular say would hit the middle class and working families harder. where are we now? behind the scenes aides are trying to work out a deal. some sort of compromise to prevent these $85 billion in automatic spending cuts from happening march 1st. jon? >> tracie potts from washington d.c. thank you very much. >>> there's news the white house this morning is considering urging the supreme court to overturn california's controversial proposition 8. there are more details with impact on the president's decision. g
